HRT Recon Placard — Launch-Day First Look
The Verdict
HRT drops another winner — the Recon placard rides just as happy on an H Harness as on a full kit.
We're big fans of HRT Tactical on this channel, and the Recon placard is exactly why. Two pistol mags up front, an admin pouch, a covered third pistol pouch, and rifle mag slots with swappable inserts for everything from M4 mags to 7.62 — all in a placard that clips onto a plate carrier or, like we ran it, an H Harness for days when you have no reason to wear the big stuff. It dropped the day we filmed, and it earned its spot immediately.
/The Rundown
Quick one today. You guys know we are big fans of HRT Tactical here on the channel, and this is something new they're dropping — the Recon chest placard. We had it launch-day fresh, mounted on our HRT H Harness, but it clips right into a regular plate carrier kit too. We just had no reason to be wearing one of those big things today, and that's honestly the point of this setup.
The layout: two pistol mags up front plus a little admin pouch where you can stash the small stuff. Mine would normally hold the multi-tool from Gritr — if you don't have one of those, they're sub-$50 and the quality is absolutely fantastic; I'd been using mine all day, which is exactly why it wasn't in the pouch on camera. There's also another pistol pouch that's completely covered, with multiple inserts inside for magazines. I had a Springfield Echelon magazine in there since that's what I was carrying that day.
The rifle mag section is where it gets flexible. We were shooting 6mm ARC, and those mags fit very nicely in the regular M4 slots — but it also comes with multiple inserts, a 4x1 and a wide 3x1 for your .308 or 7.62 magazines, and you just swap them in and out. Fair warning from experience: they're loose pieces, and I managed to lose track of mine on camera for a minute. Keep them somewhere you'll remember.
On the back it's hook and loop, so when you slap it down on your chest rig or plate carrier it sticks on there tight, and it fits very nicely on the H Harness. We normally rock HRT's Maximus placard, but I'm really liking this one for the chest rig role — lighter days call for lighter kit, and this covers pistol mags, rifle mags, and admin space without strapping on a full carrier.
