945 Industries Q.A.P.L. — Next Generation Off-Body Carry?

I'm quickly becoming the connoisseur of fanny packs and crossbody bags for concealed carry, and this one is from 945 Industries: the Quick Access Pouch. Full transparency, the boys at 945 sent it over for me to take a look at, and I couldn't be happier they did. I've got it set up crossbody — it also works around your waist, I just don't like carrying that way — and with the included chest strap wrapped around my body this thing is not moving or going anywhere. The strap removes completely if you'd rather not feel constricted.

The layout does the important thing right: it keeps your everyday junk away from your firearm. The front pouch is where the keys, wallet, and gym earbuds go, so the main compartment stays clean for the draw. And here's something I haven't seen any other company do — they include a little accessory pouch that hangs off the side without compromising your access to the bag. I put my Live The Creed IFAK in it, and it fits perfectly. Now anytime I'm carrying in this bag, my med kit is riding right there with it. If medical isn't your thing, it'll hold a phone, mags, or a knife instead — but do the IFAK.

The draw is the whole show. There's a loop panel on the back wall of the main compartment with a hook holster — today running my P365 X-Macro comp, cleared, no mag. There are pull tabs on both sides of the zipper; you zip the bag shut leaving the tab on your dominant side exposed. Threat approaches: your non-dominant hand reaches across, yanks the tab down, the bag drops open, and your dominant hand comes up almost perpendicular to your body, right on target with barely any height change. It's a very, very simple and efficient motion. Left-handed? Flip the bag's orientation over the other shoulder and use the tab on the other side with a left-handed holster.

I love the position the holster puts the gun in, and I love that there's nowhere inside the main compartment to stash other stuff — you really shouldn't keep anything in there that could foul your draw anyway, except maybe a spare mag slapped to the loop panel. On the back side there's one more slim pocket for a phone or small items without intruding on the rest of the bag.

Build quality is really, really nice. Double stitching all the way around, cross-stitched stress points, light padding against your body, and a single small 945 Industries logo that doesn't ring any tactical bells. Honestly, it just looks like a dad bag — nothing about it screams there's a firearm inside, and that's exactly what you want.

Final thoughts: this goes into the rotation. One piece of advice from me — if you carry off-body, keep the same gun in your bags that you carry on-body, or at least stay consistent. I've got enough X-Macros and AXG Legions to put one in every crossbody bag and fanny pack I own, so the draw and target acquisition are always familiar.
