Zarges Pistol Case — Premium Transport at Its Finest

Throughout the history of this channel we've looked at a lot of bags and cases, and today's is a pretty unique one. It falls in the premium tier of carry cases — because some of you want to look good going to the range too. This is the Zarges pistol case, an all-aluminum case that is just a very, very sophisticated-looking piece of kit.

The magic is the patented VRS protection system, done in partnership with Core Technic. The case comes with two of these pads, and here's how they work: pop the cap, open the valve, and air gets inside — the pad goes completely pliable, no shape or form at all. Lay it flat, press your firearm down into it, and it indents and conforms right around the shape of the gun. Then you take the included pump and pump the air back out, and the pad hardens like a rock around that exact shape.

Set the top pad over the gun, close it all up in the case, latch it — and listen. Nothing. The gun is not moving anywhere inside that case; it is firmly implanted. I only put one pistol in for this review, but you can fit two in there. And I'll be honest: I thought there was no way this thing was going to keep my pistol from moving all around. Sure as shit, it did. I was amazed.

The case itself matches the tech. Aluminum buckles, every edge reinforced with dimples, a rubber gasket sealing tight against the underside of the lid, nice carry handles — rock solid all the way around. And it's not just for guns: this is their small pistol and gear case, so if you're a photographer or a bird watcher, the same technology will keep binoculars, a spotting scope, or camera equipment stowed away just as safe.

Now, the number: this thing comes in just shy of $700. That's premier-tier money for a pistol case, no way around it. But for what you're getting — the aluminum build, the gasket, the custom-formed VRS pads — it's a really, really quality product.
