SLNT Waterproof Faraday Backpack — Signal-Proof Meets Water-Proof

Today we're taking a look at a waterproof Faraday bag from SLNT — that's S-L-N-T, not S-I-L-E-N-T. From the outside it looks just like a dry bag you'd take rafting, canoeing, or out on the boat, except this one has nice backpack straps and a padded back, which a lot of dry bags just don't give you. It unrolls like a normal dry bag, and then it gets a little fancy.

Inside, this isn't only a dry bag — it's a Faraday enclosure as well. So if you're looking to protect electronics — phones, satellite phones, tablets, GPS — this thing blocks signal while keeping it all dry. Think about it: what's one of the keys to usable electronics? Keeping them dry. You want to protect them from solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and EMPs, but you've also got to keep them clear of the weather. SLNT has you covered on both right here.

One thing you definitely don't get with most dry bags is the insert this comes with. It's got pockets for all your items — laptop, tablet, cell phones, satellite phones, a GPS. You guys know from our previous bag videos that we keep our extra electronics in Faraday bags at all times, so that if an EMP hits and the grid goes down, we've still got complete access to electronics. We strongly believe in having satellite communications available, and we keep survival guides downloaded onto a tablet that lives in a Faraday bag. This one takes it a step further — if you're out hiking or camping, or you've got to bug out to the woods (not highly recommended, but still), you can take it all with you without fear of the gear you saved from the EMP getting wet.

A couple details worth knowing: there's a pocket up front for quick-access stuff, but heads up — that front pocket is not a Faraday enclosure, it's just waterproof. Anything you don't want hit by an EMP or a solar flare needs to go inside the main bag. You also get laser-cut MOLLE on both sides for attachments, and the operation couldn't be simpler: fold the top, grab your sides, clip — boom, protected from EMPs and water, and you look pretty cool doing it.

This is one of SLNT's larger bags, but they also make smaller individual-sized bags for a cell phone or a laptop — this one just happens to swallow all of it.
