This ACETAC Modular System Is a Game Changer — Full Rig + Pack Review
The Verdict
One system that goes from fanny pack to chest rig to assault pack — this is becoming my main ranch kit.
ACETAC took three products I'd normally buy separately and made them one system: the Swag V2 fanny pack doubles as a dangler pouch, the SOP chest rig swaps panels and wings however you need, and the MSP assault pack clips straight onto the H harness with the conversion kit. It's one of the most versatile setups we've used to date, and the pricing is honest — the rig is sub-$100 and the pouches run $30–40. This is going to be one of my main pieces of equipment out here at the ranch.

Today we're looking at one of my favorite companies — ACETAC. You've seen their plate carrier and pouches on the channel before, and this time it's three products that technically combine into one: the Swag V2 hybrid fanny pack, the SOP chest rig, and the MSP assault pack. All of it in multicam black, because I've been on a multicam black kick lately. I know people freaking hate this color. Deal with it.
The Swag V2 is an update to the hybrid fanny pack we ran in a crossbody showdown about a year and a half ago. Long strap so you can wear it crossbody or as a normal fanny pack, 500D nylon build, and the standout feature: a bungee retention compartment across the back that fits two M4-style AR-15 magazines. If something kicks off around you, you go from carrying keys and a wallet to two rifle mags in seconds. Up front there's a tourniquet pouch on the bottom — you could even squeeze a larger knife in there — plus a catchall compartment I use for the wallet, keys, and charging cables I want kept away from the firearm.
About that firearm compartment: this bag is on the smaller side. A Glock 19 fits just perfectly; a P320 does not happen. So you're limited to subcompacts, which honestly doesn't affect me at all because that's what I'm carrying a majority of the time anyway. There's hook-and-loop backing for a holster and slots for a spare mag. What it's not is a quick-draw bag — you're not getting that rip-down deployment you see from the 945 Industries or GRAB bags. The trade-off is the straps are completely detachable, so the whole bag becomes a dangler pouch on your chest rig or plate carrier. You don't have to buy the same pouch twice.
The SOP chest rig is where the system really shines. Three M4 mag slots across the back, a pistol mag slot on each side, a small admin catchall, and a main compartment that folds completely down so you're not digging blind. The front panel pulls completely off and takes anything hook-and-loop. Wing pouches on both sides pop off for a radio, a flashbang, or more mags. Strip it all down to the H harness — my preferred harness style — and you're running a slick rig with two pistol pouches and three rifle pouches. There's even a padded chest-and-belly pad so the hook Velcro never touches your body.
The MSP assault pack rounds it out. Laser-cut MOLLE, loop backing inside and out, a laptop/sensitive-documents compartment, a drag handle — what we call the dead-body pull strap — and a set of hook-backed organizer pouches you can slap anywhere in the bag and peel off to hand to somebody. Great for medical gear. The kicker is the chest rig conversion kit inside: swap the backpack straps out and the pack attaches directly to the back of the SOP's H harness or to their plate carrier. Chest rig up front, assault pack on your back, one system.
This is going to become one of my main pieces of equipment on the ranch. I'm hiking way down in the woods to shoot, carrying a couple guns with limited spots on my body, and this solves it — mags and gear on the chest, everything else on my back. Great for duty use too. One request for the guys at ACETAC, and Rob, I'm talking to you: we still need a pouch specifically designed for the Zimo. Frog skin camo, please.
Hits
- +Truly modular — fanny pack becomes a dangler, pack mounts to the chest rig
- +Two AR mags stash in the Swag V2's bungee back compartment
- +SOP front panel, wings, and dangler all swap on and off
- +500D nylon and consistent build quality across the line
- +Honest pricing: sub-$100 rig, $30–40 pouches
Misses
- –Swag V2 gun compartment maxes out at subcompacts — a P320 won't fit
- –Not a quick-draw bag like the 945 or GRAB rip-down designs
- –Still no dedicated Zimo pouch, and yes, that's a real gripe
