Toor Knives & Skallywag Tactical — Blade Perfection

We've been on a little bit of a knife kick lately, and today I've got two brands I think you're going to love: Toor Knives and Skallywag Tactical. Three blades, all fixed, all serious.

First up — and honestly I should have saved my favorite for last — is the Toor Valor in Bomber Black. It's just under 11 inches overall, a fixed blade in CPM CruWear with G10 grips, coming in just under 10 ounces. Not too heavy, not light: you feel like you've got something good in the back of your hand. This is such a fantastic knife that it's now the blade I keep on my kit. It ships with a nice sheath that has a screw hole up top so you can attach it to whatever you want. Price is right around $350 — they run sales occasionally — and for what you're getting, it's absolutely worth it.

Next is the Toor Karsumba in Phantom Gray, and this style of knife has been creeping up on me. I had a similar blade from another brand that I'd started to enjoy; this thing takes it to a whole new level. CPM M4 steel, G10 grips, about 6.6 inches overall with a 2.5-inch blade, and only around five and a half ounces. It's a grip-it-and-rip-it fighting knife with a finger hole, and it's light and small enough that you could conceal carry it in a pocket no problem — or run it on your kit or in the glove box. A little over $200, comes with a sheath, and that gray colorway is just sick.

The last knife is the biggest of the bunch: the Riptide Spearpoint Serrated from Skallywag Tactical. Twelve inches overall, a blade just under 6.5 inches, D2 steel, G10 grips, and right about 11 ounces of heft. The sheath has a locking mechanism — engaged, the knife physically can't come out until you push the lock and it flips open, which is a really cool touch. They make a clean-edge version too, but this is the serrated spear point, and between the size and those serrations there's a multitude of uses here. If it weren't as big as it is it'd probably ride on my gear; instead it goes in my get-home bag slash go-bag slash whatever the hell you want to call those things these days. Right around $300.
