Sig P365 AXG Legion Review — The New Best Concealed Carry Gun Ever Created?

First, sorry for the less-than-enthusiastic delivery on this one — my vocal cords were still absolutely f'd and I was headed in for surgery the next week. But content waits for no man. This is one of those no-brainer guns: when you see it, you buy it. I wasn't even gun shopping — I was picking up cardboard targets at my friends at Pickett Weaponry down in Newberry, Florida, walked past the case, and said, 'Is that a 365 AXG Legion? Box it up, let's go.'

AXG stands for aluminum X-Series grip. Just like the P320 AXG Legion we reviewed recently, this trades the standard polymer grip for aluminum, which adds a noticeable — not uncomfortable — amount of weight over a standard X-Macro. It keeps the same footprint as the X-Macro, including the integrated comp. The comp story is the same as before: does it help? Absolutely, especially on a gun this small that can be a little snappy. And because it's cut right into the slide, there's no bolt-on attachment to malfunction or break. The trade-off is it's a very small comp — about a half inch — and you drop to a 3.1-inch barrel versus the 3.9 on the standard X-Macro and Tacops.

The details are what make it. The X-Series flat trigger is incredible — not skeletonized like a lot of the Legion lineup, but absolutely amazing. The G10-style fish-scale grip inserts are the perfect combination of tough and comfortable, with the Legion logo embossed, stippling front and back and under the trigger guard. You get a magwell, a swappable mag release, Trijicon X-Ray night sights (not co-witness height, though you can pick the dot up almost right at them), a proper beavertail with a little flip at the end, and a rail that takes a TLR-7 — no X300s or TLR-1s here, and honestly a big ass weapon light on this slim profile seems pretty dumb to me anyway. And that Legion gray finish is just remarkable — sleek and modern with a little bit of throwback in those grips.

For the optic I ran the Holosun EPS Carry with the multi-reticle system. You've heard me say it a million times: a circle dot for concealed carry is fantastic. This isn't a precision gun — it's a 7-to-15-yard encounter gun, and putting a circle and a dot on target fast is exactly the job. One mistake to learn from: the screws that come with the EPS Carry are a little too long for the AXG Legion. I've got replacement screws waiting at the house — order the right ones with your optic.

Shooting it is where it wins you over. I've already put a lot of rounds through it because it's just fun. The added weight really helps with muzzle flip, you notice the comp a bit more, and it fits your hand exactly like the X-Macro — no dangling pinky, even without extended mags. Coming from an X-Macro to this is a definitive upgrade — and I'm saying that about a gun I already called the best carry gun ever created. Take that for what it's worth.

Two practical warnings. First, price: at about $1,200 it's the upper end of striker-fired carry guns, but what you're getting for that money is really, really good — and you'll hardly ever hear me argue a $1,500-plus gun is that much better. Second, holsters: your X-Macro holster probably won't fit. The trigger guard tolerances are a little wider; I backed the tension screws out on two holsters, lost a screw when one wiggled loose, and gave up. It fits an INCOG X, but I'm not a fan of that one. I ended up with a custom Kydex wing holster from Legacy Firearms — takes a bit longer since it's all custom, tons of color options, and bang for the buck their stuff hangs with Tier 1 and Safariland.
