Sig Sauer P320 X-Five Legion Review — My Favorite P320

This is one of the reviews I've been most excited to do. When I first started making content and got active in the 2A community, this was the gun I set my goal on. I picked one up about a year ago, and if it weren't for that darn P320 AXG Legion coming out, the X-Five Legion would still be at the top of the pack — now it's a neck-and-neck race. You guys know I love the Legion series as a whole: I've got two AXG Legions, an X-Carry Legion, and this, all in that fantastic battleship-gray Legion color.

The heart of this gun is the TXG grip module — tungsten-infused polymer. I don't know how they figured out tungsten infusion into polymer, but it creates a very, very balanced gun. Total weight comes in right at 43.2 ounces, so it's a hefty big guy. It's maybe a touch light on the front end bare, but hang a light off the rail and the whole package balances out perfectly — that's part of why I think it would genuinely work as a duty gun, not just a competition piece.

Up top, the slide is ported — no barrel ports, so you're not getting as much of that downward pressure — with adjustable Dawson Precision sights. Here's my gripe: mount an optic and you lose your rear sight. I wish they would stop doing that. If worse comes to worst and you have to yank a dead red dot off, it'd be nice to still have irons. You also get the X-Series skeletonized trigger and a super-flared magwell — and I mean flared. Drop a mag, drive the next one home, boom, there's no issue getting in there at all. Fast, fast reloads.

Fit and feel are just insane. The slide-to-frame fit with this grip module is a perfect glide — no effort at all racking it. Takedown works like every other P320 with the takedown lever; mine wears an aftermarket Armory Craft lever with the gas pedal on it, because the stock lever is kind of a far reach even for my medium-sized hands. It ships with three 17-round mags with the embossed Legion logo, and the P320 aftermarket means magazines are everywhere — M17 mags fit fine, ProMag makes them, and Magpul just came out with steel ones. I keep a separate compartment in my range bag just for 320 mags.

On steel, this thing is a dead-on shooter. As soon as the front end comes down, boom, you're back on target every single time. People complain about P320 bore axis, but if you're used to shooting 320s it's a non-issue — and the X-Series beavertail lets you choke up higher and hold stronger than a standard 320 anyway. Between this and the AXG Legion it's a coin flip on which shoots smoother.

Final thoughts: right around the $1,000 price point, and I think that's right about where it should be. It shoots well, has real weight, works for competition, and with a TLR-1 HL up front it balances into legitimate duty territory. Mine lives in a holster with a Safariland QLS attachment so I can swap any of my TLR-1-equipped 320s in and out on range day. If you've been eyeing the Legion line, this is the one that started the obsession for me.
