September 2025 EDC Update — Guns, Knives, Lights & More

It's September, which means it's time for another EDC update — we haven't done a full one in quite a while. Let's start with flashlights, because there's genuinely new stuff here. The tried-and-true is still the Streamlight micro lights: I've got the USB-rechargeable one in a bronze FDE and a battery-fed black one. Tiny footprint, which is why they're my day-job choice — they disappear in dress pants.

The new hotness is the Wuben X4, released like two days before we filmed. It's rechargeable with a battery compartment and charging port, has normal and nighttime brightness settings, and the party trick is a side light panel with a turn knob on the back that scrolls through colors — a red night mode so you're not drawing attention to yourself in the woods, plus straight white. Magnet on the tail, too. The pocket clip is a little chonky, but that's my only knock. Its little brother, the Wuben G5, is about the size of a Zippo with a head that flips between modes, a reversible clip, the same red/color modes, and another tail magnet. And from my friends at Olight, the Arkfeld Pro: flashlight, laser pointer, and ultraviolet in one rechargeable body, with battery life that lasts forever. That's the one I've been carrying most.

On knives, the Cobratec Diablo auto and the Wrath are still in the rotation — both sub-$100 and both good. The CRKT M16 Tanto is a good knife I don't carry much, and here's why: the flipper edges are serrated, and with the clip orientation you rub your fingers against that sharp serrated part every time you reach in your pocket. The one in my pocket every day right now is the WE Knives 704X BattlBox edition — nice and sharp with fantastic action. Every person I let borrow it asks where to get one. And now that heavier-clothes season is coming, the fixed blade comes out: the Toor Krypteia S, with G10 grips and a wicked sharp blade. That's a fall-into-winter knife for me — it'd print under a summer t-shirt.

Accessories: the Dango A10 modular wallet has replaced my leather wallet — slide-off attachments, RFID-blocking panel, best wallet I think I've ever owned. Zimo keeps the nicotine flowing during the day, and a NeoMag magnetic clip carries the spare Canik mag in my pocket when my holster doesn't have a wing.

Now the guns. The P365 AXG Legion is the longest-serving — a fantastic gun, definitely pricier at $1,000-plus, wearing an EPS Carry and riding in my Legacy Firearms wing holster. The Canik Mete MC9 Prime is what I'm carrying the most: TLR-7 Sub up front, Osight SE on top, and that Canik trigger you can't beat. People complain the comp doesn't do much — I said the same in my review — but it doesn't affect the way I shoot it at all. It rides in the Tulster ARC, which is a kick-ass holster.

The newest addition is a Smith & Wesson Shield Plus I picked up used at Grace's gun shop in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, for about $249 — a killer deal. I put around a hundred rounds through it to sight in the Olight Osight S (the rechargeable mini optic) and it goes in the Haley Strategic/Safariland IncogX. That's my deep-concealment gun for tighter-fitting clothes.

And the winter gun: the Springfield Echelon with the aluminum Sharps Bros grip module — probably one of the best grip modules I've ever put on a gun — plus a TLR-1 HL and one of the original Osights in FDE. It carries in the Tier One Concealed MSP, a modular holster that fits almost any gun with a TLR-1 on it, which solves the expensive problem of buying holsters for every pistol. It's a little chunky for t-shirt-and-shorts season, but with the full wing plate stack it pulls that big grip module right back into your body.
