EDC Dump at the Ranch — Everyday Carry + Truck EDC

Beautiful sunny morning in North Central Florida, so before gearing up we're doing an EDC dump — what I carry in everyday life, not for range days. I'd put myself middle of the pack on everyday preparedness: my pockets aren't stuffed, no extra pouches hanging off my belt. Starting simple: a metal RFID-blocking wallet — probably a Ridge knockoff, honestly — carried in the front pocket where it's harder to pickpocket, with cash inside that I never touch. If the financial system hiccups or the card readers go down, I can at least pay a gas station in cash and get where I need to go. Keys to the Ram, the cabin, the trailer, and the Miami apartment. And one thing we won't advertise — those of you that know, know.

I don't run a weapon light on my carry gun; I prefer a flashlight in the pocket. That's the Streamlight Microstream — tiny, around 250 lumens, bright enough to see in broad daylight, and small enough to cross-carry with the gun if I need to. Mostly it finds things under my truck seat. The blade is a Cobratec Diablo in tan: spring-assisted with a safety, D2 steel, about $50-60 at a gun show. I've used it every single day since, it hasn't dulled down, and I've bought about three more Cobratecs since. For the price, they're really, really great.

The gun: my Sig Sauer P365 AXG Legion, the upgraded metal-framed take on the X-Macro, with a Holosun EPS Carry on top. The magazines are 17-rounders, so it's 18 in the gun and another 17 on the spare — 35 rounds on my person at all times. You will not find me out of the house without this thing.

The holster story matters if you own an AXG Legion: its trigger guard is slightly thicker than the X-Macro's, and my Bucks and Incog X holsters couldn't handle it. I had to back the tension screws out so far the Incog X literally wiggled its screw out completely and lost it, and the Bucks never held the right tension. Legacy Firearms was the only company I found making a holster specifically for the AXG Legion, so a two-clip winged Legacy rig is what it rides in. Belt-wise, I mostly skip my Kore/Tier 1 belt — the buckle is so big it makes splitting off a two-clip holster a pain — and wear Groove Life belts instead: magnetic buckle, a little elasticity so the holster snugs tight against your body. The truck is the second layer. Up front: two extra boxes of 9mm, backup carry ammo in Hornady Critical Duty and Critical Defense, a baton for less-than-deadly force, and two Baofeng UV-5Rs — one preset to the local emergency frequencies, one preset to channels my friends and family will use, ready to ratchet onto my kit. In the Ram boxes: work gloves, 40% DEET, permethrin for the clothes (ticks and chiggers out here are no joke), hand sanitizing wipes for post-range cleanup, a first aid kit, tools, targets, a dump bag, and two spare chest rigs including my Viktos Taculus — because somehow I always end up with people who need kit when the shit hits the fan.

Behind the rear passenger seat hangs a Savior Equipment bag on headrest hooks. Pop it open and out comes the truck gun — a 10.5-inch AR I built myself — plus spare mags and a P320 X5 in the bottom compartment. If I need to move, the whole bag unhooks and goes on my back.
