Vector Optics Frenzy Flex 1x24x29 Review — Budget Red Dot With Big Performance

Quick review on this one — you already saw this optic riding on our Fusion XF Pro video, but it deserved a deeper dive. Vector Optics sent out their Frenzy Flex 1x24x29 for me to try, and the first thing you notice is the shape: I hate to dare say it, but it's got an almost SRO kind of look to it. That 24x29 window is a beast — nice and huge, and the glass is giving me no distortion at all, which for an optic that comes in at sub-$200, I was not expecting to see.

The dot is a 6 MOA, and cranked all the way up it stayed nice, crisp, and clean even on a blindingly bright day at the range. You get eight brightness settings adjusted through rubber, tactile buttons on the side, standard windage and elevation, and a side-load battery — I believe a 1620 — so you're not pulling the optic to swap cells. This is one of those optics that's great for competition shooting: big window, big close-up dot you can throw on target fast.

Build-wise you're looking at 7075 T6 aluminum, and the footprint is what Vector calls their MOJ. I'd honestly never heard the name before — I own a bunch of their optics and I'm sure I've used it — but the useful part is that it fits both MOS and RMR footprints. We've got it sitting on an RMR plate on the XF Pro and it dropped in perfectly.

One design note: there is a little bit of that overhanging lip up front, SRO-style, but it doesn't stick out nearly as much as the SRO's. That matters, because with ejection ports throwing brass close to an SRO you can end up with stovepipes — you don't really get as much of that here. I've had no issues with any of the Vector Optics I've tried so far, and this one has been no different. If you're looking at getting into competitive shooting on a budget, check this thing out.
