Cyelee Wolf X Pro Review — Budget RMR for the Masses

In full transparency, Cyelee sent this to me to take a look at, and I made no promises to them. As I tell you guys all the time: somebody's going to put this on a gun to possibly save their own life or somebody they love, and I'm not straying you in the wrong direction with a product I don't believe in. With that said — the Wolf X Pro is a pretty rad optic.

It's an RMR footprint, so it drops right onto anything cut for RMR — Glock MOS, or just get yourself a Shadow Systems and it's already cut. The housing is pretty darn sturdy looking; it's thick, and the shroud comes up over the edge of the glass, so you could rack the slide one-handed off the front of it without hitting the lens. Best of all, it has a side-loading battery compartment — you guys have seen my other reviews, I absolutely love not having to pull the optic and re-zero just to change a battery. Elevation and windage adjustments are right where you'd want them.

The reticle is a 2 MOA dot inside a 26 MOA circle, and you know I'm a huge fan of the circle dot — it is the best reticle out there. Brightness settings? Woo. It was broad daylight when we filmed and that light is bright. Glass clarity is good, with slight distortion on the edges — really not that bad at all — and a tad bit of blue across the entire glass, which honestly I don't mind. I think it helps the reticle stand out a little more.

Now the part I almost forgot on the walk down to the range: they told me to beat the shit out of it. They said, beat it up John, we want to prove our optic can hold up. So I smashed it on a log harder than you'd ever realistically hit it — no damage to the housing, no damage to the lens, zero. Later I beat it against a tree too, which put a little cosmetic scratch on the top of the aluminum, and that's it. It's also submersible in water and rain and dust proof, and after that beating I'm leaning towards believing them.

Shooting it at about 25 yards on steel — first time shooting the XR920 AND the optic, mind you — it ran great, and we stayed out shooting well after I stopped filming. The optic held zero the entire time, through continuous fire and two rounds of tree abuse. Side note: Bereli had a killer sale going where a Shadow Systems gun came with a free X300 — I got this whole gun-and-light combo for a little over $700 out the door. Out of control.

Here's who this is for: these come in right at about the $200 mark, sometimes on sale around one-eighty-ish on their site. It gets very expensive putting optics on every single gun we own, review, and buy, and I hate pulling optics off and re-zeroing them. A $200 RMR-footprint dot that holds zero under fire is the perfect answer for outfitting a bunch of range guns — so yeah, I'm absolutely going to buy more of these. Maybe they'll even send me another one. That would be fantastic.
