C&H Precision Optic and Slide Cut — Glock 19 Build

Let's get this out of the way: we've basically never had a Glock on the channel, and that's on purpose. They're very capable weapons, yada yada yada, but I don't like the triggers, I don't like the grip angles, and I don't like the MOS system for mounting optics. I own exactly one — this Glock 19 — and I keep it around as a test platform for when people want me to try Glock products. Today it became a rebuild project.

The build list before we get to the star of the show: a shiny stainless threaded barrel (the thread protector is actually borrowed from my Canik Elite Combat — it fits, don't judge me), and a Tyrant magwell in black and silver. And no, the black and silver is not a sign of who I root for in the NFL — I'm a Steelers fan, black and gold through and through. When I carry it, it rides in a Hidden Hybrid holster — Kydex front, leather backing with felt — which I could not recommend more.

Now the main event. I'd been talking with C&H Precision — you probably know them for optic plates, slide milling, and their own optics — and this gun was the perfect candidate because my slide wasn't even MOS; it was a straight-cut slide with static sights. So I sent it off and asked for an ACRO-footprint cut. What came back was the best work I could ever imagine. Phenomenal craftsmanship on the cut, and they mounted their C&H Duty optic — their closed-emitter dot that rides the ACRO footprint.

The details on this optic are legit: a circle-dot reticle, a shield plate up front so you're racking the slide off the protector instead of the glass, a side-loading battery compartment, and a ghost rear sight built into the housing that gives you a genuinely decent co-witness if the battery ever dies. My favorite touch: when C&H mounts your optic, they put a witness mark on it — if that line ever splits, your optic is walking loose and has probably lost zero. That they do that for you is fantastic.

The process is simple: pack up your slide and send it in, assembled or disassembled — they just charge a bit more to take it apart for you. Milling runs around $100 to $150 and takes about six weeks, and they'll cut for whatever footprint you want: ACRO, RMR, DeltaPoint Pro, you name it. The Duty optic itself comes in around the $300-400 range, which is about half the cost of an Aimpoint ACRO for performance that's absolutely fantastic.

At the range, this thing ran. Great target acquisition, no trouble picking up that circle dot, super smooth shooting. But let's be honest with each other: the trigger's garbage. It just is. Anybody that says it's not is lying to you. The gun itself performs well and is consistent, and yes, you can get aftermarket triggers — but on a gun I might carry, I try not to mess with the trigger. Some people might complain about the smaller closed-emitter window, but with my laser-corrected eyes it was fine. Huge shout out to C&H Precision — the slide cut and Duty optic make the whole experience way, way, way better.
